We aim to harness the technology that’s taken us global and isolated us to reconnect us and tap into our local potential. That’s our mission – to use technology to help us unleash the power of our neighborhoods – whether to make some extra money, to support a common cause, or simply to get to know one another better and have some fun. We can better our lives and strengthen our neighborhoods, and that’s what zelocal is all about.

Zelocal.com

Findr Interactive to host Internet Week Event!

zeLocal’s creators, Findr Interactive, are proud to announce that they will be hosting, “Not your Grandma’s Agency - Cocktail Mixer”, an official event of Internet Week NY on Wednesday, June 8th from 7:00PM-10:00PM.

Since 2008, Internet Week has taken place all over the city, hosting diverse events in different locations. The result is a critical mass of web-focused events that raises the profile of NYC’s industry as a whole, as well as the partners who participate.

Findr Interactive is excited to be a part of this year’s Internet Week NY and is proud to present:

“Not Your Grandma’s Agency - Cocktail Mixer”

The term “advertising agency” is being called a thing of the past these days. The term itself comes from a “Mad Men” era with old-school thinking that has become outdated, cumbersome and ineffective in today’s market.

In 2011, we are seeing marketing and advertising companies evolve and transform into more than just their new inventive names, like digital shops, idea companies, and brand consultancies. More than just fee-for-service, these next generation agencies are buying brands, developing products and expanding their reach into multiple interactive platforms and intellectual properties.

Findr Interactive is no different as 2011 will see the launch of two digital properties, zeLocal and CoCo, as well as our third production of NYC Night of the AdEaters, an Advertising Week event that celebrates the best advertising on a global stage from more than 60 countries.

This three-hour event will showcase how we’re redefining what it means to be a leading small agency in this modern transformation and feature a Sneak Peek of our upcoming product launches and Night of the AdEaters event. We look forward to an open discussion on digital, social and mobile opportunities, location-based services, networking opportunities beyond the ad industry and granting our guests a sneak peek into our idea vault.

Agenda:

7:00-7:30 – Meet & Greet

7:30-7:45 – “The New Kind of Agency” Open Discussion Led by Kevin Jennings, New Product Development Manager

7:45–8:00 – zeLocal Premiere – Led by Luba Tolkachyov, VP Client Services, Co-Creator

8:00–8:15 – CoCo Launch – Led by Creators, Lacey Miranda & Kevin Jennings

8:15-8:30 – Night of the AdEaters Preview – Led by Luba Tolkachyov, Co-Producer

8:30–10:00 – Social Hour with FREE Appetizers & Beer/Wine Bar

Please RSVP to lacey@findrinteractive.com with number of attendees.

zeAbsolute BEST doughnuts you will ever eat at Dough! This amazing view of hundreds of cyclists peddling through the city reminded me of a trip I took to Amsterdam a few years ago and how wonderful it was there where everyone rides bicycles. What an amazing world we would live in if everyone rode bicycles, instead of drive cars. There would be fewer fatalities, less road rage, less pollution and best of all; you could see NYC in a whole new light.

The great thing about NYC is there is always something new and exciting to be discovered. However, when riding a bicycle through your neighborhood, you can rediscover your same old route to the grocery store or commute to the cleaners. Riding a bicycle lets you stop and smell the roses a bit and turn your autopilot subway trips into outdoor adventures. That is the great thing about getting out n’ about in zeHood.

And now with the great weather May has been bringing us, why not bike to work or to the grocery market all summer long. After seeing the astounding participation in the recent Five Boro Bike Tour, I now realize that I don’t have to be afraid to bike through the city. I can brush up on my bike safety skills on Bike New York’s site, strap on my helmet and I will be ready to ride. Now, all I have to do is get a bike!

Buh-Bye Do or Die BedStuy!

Currently, I reside in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn famously known as “Do or Die Bedstuy”. The best thing about my neighborhood are the friendly people I encounter on my way to the train, grocery store or my favorite local spot: Colador Café. Colador is this cool, eccentric cubano-style coffee shop with mismatched furniture, funky jazz music playing in the background and amazing coffee! The people are always very nice and there are always great flyers to stay up-to-date on the local happenings.

This weekend I am very excited though because I am moving to Boreum Hill. It is situated in a triangle of cool neighborhoods I enjoy: Cobble Hill, Downtown BK and Fort Greene. It is also right next to Clinton Hill that offers the best doughnut shop you will ever experience cleverly named “Dough”. You have never had a doughnut quite like these before. They are large, fluffy and infused with magical flavor combinations. Try the café’ au lait, passion fruit and cheesecake ones. They are my faves.

But my new place will be right off Atlantic Ave and 2 blocks away from the happening Smith Street. I am sure to find cute boutiques, kitschy cafes and antique stores galore. I look forward to discovering zehood through exploring trendy hot spots, meeting new friendly faces and sharing with my zeLocal friends what my hood is all about.

The Year of ZeLocal is Here!

This is the year of zeLocal.com. The site is ready, the team is pumped and zeLocal’s are waiting to connect for profit, fun and cause.

Many are re-discovering the healing and empowering role that community can bring to our lives. The sense of belonging we feel when we make the time to take an active role in our communities can give us a deeper sense of meaning and purpose.”

-
Robert Alan
